No Brasil \u00e9 recente o aumento na produ\u00e7\u00e3o comercial. O estado de Santa Catarina \u00e9 o segundo maior produtor nacional da fruta com expans\u00e3o na produ\u00e7\u00e3o. Na compara\u00e7\u00e3o entre as safras 2017\/18 e 2021\/22 houve amplia\u00e7\u00e3o na participa\u00e7\u00e3o de fruticultores, \u00e1rea plantada da cultura estadual, produ\u00e7\u00e3o de pitaya e VBP. A \u00e1rea total de pitaya da amostra representa 43,6% da \u00e1rea de lavouras permanentes, sendo uma op\u00e7\u00e3o para o plantio em pequenas \u00e1reas. Na composi\u00e7\u00e3o da renda dos produtores a lavoura permanente representa 41,7% da renda, sendo que 28,8% da renda total \u00e9 proveniente da pitaya. Na safra 2021\/22, entre os principais canais de distribui\u00e7\u00e3o e comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o da produ\u00e7\u00e3o, os intermedi\u00e1rios representam 44,5%, as cooperativas 26,5% e o Ceasa-SC 15,9% do destino das vendas. Entre os principais entraves encontrados na cultura da pitaya acima de 30% est\u00e3o: o pre\u00e7o baixo da fruta, a ocorr\u00eancia de pragas e doen\u00e7as, pre\u00e7o alto dos insumos e a falta de defensivos registrados para a cultura.
